Senior Field Engineer

Verari Systems, Inc. is the premier developer of powerful, flexible, and scalable platform-independent blade computing systems that are defining a new era in high performance utility computing for the enterprise data center is seeking a full time Senior Field Engineer.


Scope and Responsibilities

Hands-on Leadership role performing various onsite & in-depot operations on high-value computer systems.

• Responsible for electronic equipment installation, basic and advanced diagnostics, repair operations on    components and subassemblies.
• Verification of Verari Systems, Inc. products, specifications and related assemblies prior to shipment to    customer’s location.
• Insure safe transportation and tracking of Verari products which may include placement, configuration and    setup of equipment.
• Ability to assess hardware and software problems and to troubleshoot and repair products on site.
• Perform as primary service interface with customer and focus on building excellent customer relationships.
• Responsible for concise and accurate technical and tactical communication to Verari management.
• Support the design, integration, documentation and installation of Verari Systems, Inc. computer hardware.
• Provide technical assistance, instruction and consultation to Verari Systems, Inc. sales staff.
• Ensure onsite teams follow all safety policies and maintain awareness of special material handling.
 

Experience and Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge on server hardware. Background in storage and server experience desirable.
• Experience with Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems.
• Thorough understanding and practical experience with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures    pertaining to the construction and installation and repair of racks and server nodes.
• Experience diagnosing hardware failures in the areas of memory, CPU, motherboards and add-on cards.
• Network experience a plus.
• Highly developed capability to effectively communicate with others. Proficiency in verbal communication and    written correspondence/reports at a technical or complex level is necessary for this position.
• Work in an area where cause and effect are not easily established, little or no precedent exists, and the use    of creative and imaginative thinking is required.
• The nature of the team's dynamics will require an individual that is able to work closely in a collaborative role    with other team members. Strong interpersonal skills are also required for interfacing with internal staff.
 

Education:

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year college or university in an engineering discipline or a minimum of two years related experience and/or training with a combination of education and experience.
 

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing, sitting, walking, handling, feeling with hands, reaching with arms.
• Regular communication (hearing/speaking) and reporting through computer documentation.
• Ability to drive large commercial vehicles long distances.
• Must pass Department of Transportation physical.
• Occasionally lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to use hand tools and test equipment.
• Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
• Occasional risk of electrical shock if safety procedures are not followed.
• Vision requirements include: close, distant, color perception, peripheral, depth and ability to focus.
• Noise conditions are moderate.
